Meydan One is being developed by the Meydan Group, the government-owned company responsible for the existing Meydan Racing Stadium and the surrounding residential developments.
The area is being developed in anticipation of Dubai's rapid population growth and once completed hopes to become home to over 75,000 residents.
The centerpiece of Meydan One will be the 711m skyscraper 'Dubai One' which, upon completion, will become the world's tallest residential building. It will house 885 apartments as well as a 350-room 5-star hotel and will be home to both the world's highest 360-degree observation deck at 655m and the world's highest restaurant at 675m.
Coming back down to earth, in February 2016 Meydan Sobha, a joint venture project between Meydan Group and Sobha Group, launched a new residential phase of the District One project.
Phase 3 offers a fresh wave of four- and five-bedroom freehold villas built on larger plots than Phases 1 and 2. Both are sold out and their handover was to be taking place from mid-2016 with completion by 2017. Phase 3 was set to be handed over in 2018.
